Centenary Lecture

April 22nd 2009

Professor Leonard Cantor launched his Centenary History of Loughborough College 1909 - 2009 by giving a public lecture on 100 years of further and higher education in Loughborough.

Drawing on his unique knowledge of the subject, Professor Cantor gave a fascinating account of the people and events which have shaped the development of Loughborough College.

The College made special presentations to the five longest serving current members of staff, these were Jacqui Stone, Stuart Bull, Janet Spavin, Tom O'Brien and Jane Trevarthan.

Special presentations were also made to Mrs. Sheila Hutchings and Mrs. Sue Wilkinson, the widows of the two previous Principals of Loughborough College

Afternoon Tea for Past Staff of Loughborough College

May 13th, 2-6pm, Radmoor Centre

Past members of Loughborough College staff shares tea, cakes and memories with former colleagues.

There were displays and exhibitions with such items as past copies of the College prospectus for guest to browse and relive happy memories.

Reception and Centenary Commemoration

Tuesday 29th September, 4-6pm, Radmoor Centre

A special invitation event, hosted jointly by Loughborough College and Loughborough University to celebrate the shared routes and subsequent history since the foundation of Loughborough Technical Institute on September 29th 1909.

Childrens Christmas Party

Saturday December 12th, 2pm, Radmoor Centre

The revival of an old Loughborough College tradition in holding a Christmas party for the children of staff and the local community.

Special themed fancy dress competitions, games, goodies and food.
