Staff Profiles

ConnEct Project Leader

Hi, my name's Nicola Fox. I am the Project Leader of the ConnEct Programme.

I set up the ConnEct programme 3 years ago at Loughborough College. I am really pleased to see how the programme has progressed and developed over those years to enable learners to be able to continue their studies whatever their situation.

A fact about me which is relevant to the ConnEct project is that I have been able to use my teaching knowledge and apply it to developing the structure of the lessons as you will see them today.

Over the 3 years I have progress tutored students and have seen them progress within their education allowing them the opportunity to go on to university to continue their studies. Other students have decided that thanks to the opportunity they have had with ConnEct to continue their education that they were now in a place where they wanted to go back to their local college and complete their studies there.

The number of staff involved in the ConnEct team has grown significantly, I am proud to say that they are dedicated in providing learners with an alternative way of continuing their education.

If you decide to enrol on a course with ConnEct we hope that you have a positive experience and achieve the goals that you set out to achieve.

ConnEct Student Support Co-ordinator

Hello, my name's Clare Congrave and I’m the ConnEct Student Support Co-ordinator.

My role is all about...support!

If students are experiencing any general problems, for example, issues with their PCs it's me who they can contact. I’m also here to offer general advice and guidance and support students if they require Study Skills Support or have any additional needs. I try to help everyone to achieve their individual goals.

I'm responsible for tracking work i.e. checking that everything’s being completed on time. If students don’t complete any work for two consecutive weeks and we don’t hear from them explaining why, I contact them via email or on the telephone for an update their situation. As I’ve been involved in the ConnEct project from the beginning as a tutor and course author, it gives me a great insight into the overall experience of studying with ConnEct and definitely helps me to support our current student and hopefully any future students.

I also liaise with the ConnEct subject tutors regarding the progress of our students and make arrangements for Progress Reports to be conducted regularly. I play a role in the development of any tutor training required and generally support our tutors.

Another aspect of my role is handling enquiries and enrolments - if you’re interested in learning more about the project please get in touch!

ConnEct Project Support Co-ordinator

Hello, my name is Ing'utu Palmer, the ConnEct Project Support co-ordinator. I work closely with subject authors and tutors in developing e-learning lessons for our range of GCSE and A level subjects.

The ConnEct project is continuously looking at ways of improving the quality of our online learning environment to make sure that we support our learners in the best possible way to ensure that they are successful in their studies. Ensuring that we use suitable technology to support our distance learners is an area that I am responsible for, including for example, facilitating live online classroom sessions.
