A-Level Results

19/08/10

Teenagers around the country faced a sleepless night as they awaited their A-Level results this morning, with those at Loughborough College no different.

But the College achieved a 95% pass rate, meaning that the majority of the 135 students who sat exams over the summer were pleased with their results.

In what is a difficult year for those with hopes of studying at university due to cuts in the number of places available the excitement on the faces of those who had realised their hopes was clear to see.

Ashley and Charlotte celebrate their A-Level results

Charlotte Ellix, a 19-year-old Applied Business Studies student, came to collect her results with her friends.

Shouts of “I’ve got into uni, I’ve got into uni,” rang around the corridors as the teenager opened her envelope surrounded by her friends.

With an A and a B grade, she will be setting off to Manchester Metropolitan University in September.

She said: “I’m going to do Events Management in Manchester. I want to go into events management after uni but I’m not totally sure in what exactly.”

Fellow student Ashley Perrin was equally pleased with his B grades in Applied Business and C grade in Critical Thinking, saying: “I’m really pleased with my results. I don’t need them to get into uni because I didn’t want to go there straight away.

“I’m not sure if I will in the future but I am having a year out next. I’m going to go travelling but I don’t know exactly where yet.

“I was thinking I might go to India but I’m not sure yet.”
