Religion, Faith & Spirituality
Loughborough College is a diverse community of people from many cultures and faiths. The college has a Multi-Faith Room, which is open to all students and staff. It is used for prayer and quiet reflection. For Muslims, it provides facilities for ablutions, prayer mats and a curtain to separate males and females. It also contains a small library of religious books and pamphlets about all of the major world faiths.
Details of college and local faith contacts, religious groups, churches, mosques, temples and other places of religious assembly or worship are also available. The college Chaplain and Chaplaincy colleagues are available to anyone wanting to understand or explore the world faiths, deepen their own spirituality, who need spiritual direction or counselling or just a listening ear.
Loughborough College has a Chaplain, who is available for all members of the college community, students and staff, of any faith or none. The Chaplain can discuss spiritual, moral or ethical issues with any member of the college community, as well as offering pastoral support.
Sometimes at college you may come across some ‘big’ questions and be faced with some ‘big’ choices. Sometimes these may be about faith and spirituality or they may be about moral or ethical issues. Would you like to talk about these either with someone or with a group of others who are asking the same things or being faced with similar choices? There may also be times during college life when you want to know more about something connected with faith and spirituality that you might be involved in and you just want to know what happens and why. Whatever the question, you can ask a College Chaplain.
College Chaplains are here for you whether you are a practising member of one of the world faiths or not. In other words, they are here for everyone. They can help you do deal with questions about faith and spirituality or even help you to prepare for something that is unfamiliar – like a wedding or even a funeral in a faith community you know nothing about. You will be bale to talk to a Chaplain confidentially; if they can’t answer your questions then they will introduce you to someone who can, either in the Centre for Faiths and Spirituality at the University or in your local community.
