Provision/costs for Non-Medical Support (2009/2010) that could be DSA funded:
Mental Health Support Worker
To provide one-to-one support, where additional input is required in relation to the impact of the client’s mental health related disability on academic progress or accomplishment. This is a non-therapeutic, practical based support service, focused on assisting students developing strategies to overcome the negative impact of a mental health disability in relation to academic studies.
£25.00 per hour
Dyslexia / Dyscalculia Support Tutor (1-1 support)
Specialist Dyslexia Tutor to provide individual study skills support to dyslexic/ dyscalculic students.
£50.00 per hour
Study Support Tutor ( study mentor)
Specialist Tutor to provide one-to-one academic related study support where additional input is required because the client’s disability or impairment impacts on the access to the chosen course of study. This may include students ASD, sensory impairments and learning difficulties other than dyslexia.
£50.00 per hour
Personal Care/Mobility Assistant
To provide mobility support and/or practical assistance in educational situations/locations. This includes providing physical assistance in workshops or labs and orientation assistance for students with sensory or physical impairments.

Dyslexia workshops
Group support sessions for students with dyslexia and Specific Learning Difficulties
£50.00 per hour
Note-taker/LSA (including Exam amanuensis/reader and other scribing support)
To take comprehensive notes on behalf and in the format required by the student. To act as an amanuensis and/or reader under exam, course work and normal study conditions to provide notes or typing assistance to students, based on need.
£20.00 per hour
Proof Reader
To proof read, indicate errors, in relation to spelling, organisation and structure, but not academic content.
£20.00 per hour
Braille and accessible materials Transcriber for visually impaired students.
To transcribe and produce visual materials in Braille format for blind students as required. To transcribe and produce materials in other accessible formats, (including paper based and electronically) for students with visual impairments. This includes reformatting and re-organising text based sources as appropriate for student need.

Communication Support Worker
Communication Support Worker to aid communication of students with physical communication impairments.
