Apprenticeship summary

Administrator Duties:

  • Maintain confidentiality of patients
  • Answer the telephone
  • Make appointments
  • Deal with queries
  • Take messages for all health care professionals
  • Issue repeat prescriptions following practice protocol
  • Deal with prescription queries
  • Check prescriptions on return from the doctor and file ready for patient collection
  • Faxing
  • Photocopying
  • Scanning information into patient records
  • Maintain medical records
  • Operate I.T within the guidelines of the security policy
  • Update notice boards
  • Maintain the medical centre website

Reception Duties:

  • Greet and meet patients upon arrival for their appointments
  • Make appropriate outgoing calls
  • Manage general enquiries
  • Make new and follow up appointments

General Duties:

  • Assist with administration duties with colleagues
  • Be aware of the health and safety policy
  • Chaperone patients, if required
  • Make sure the practice is secure at all times
  • Set the answer machine and check for daily messages

Whitwick Rd Surgery

Whitwick Road Surgery situated in the old market town of Coalville, North West Leicestershire. We serve around 5,600 of the population of Coalville and some of the surrounding villages. The practice has ample car parking facilities which includes disabled car parking spaces.

The surgery's history dates back to the beginnings of the NHS in 1947 and moved from the Old London Road site to this purpose built surgery in 1988. The surgery stands on what used to be the old Whitwick Colliery site.

Apprenticeship Framework:Business and Administration
Weekly Wage: £140.00
Working Week: Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm
Apprenticeship duration: 12 months
Possible start date: 07-01-2019
