Apprenticeship summary

Job Purpose:      

  • To have a very good understanding of how young children learn and how their progress can be enhanced
  • To work as part of the Kindergarten team and assist the Kindergarten Teachers for the planning, teaching and learning of EYFS across the Kindergarten Unit
  • To be accountable for standards across the EYFS in the Kindergarten Unit

Main Responsibilities:

To support the Kindergarten Teacher in:

  • Keeping up to date with developments in best practice
  • Creating a harmonious environment where the children feel safe and begin to find their independence
  • Recognising and sustaining the children’s personal, social and moral development
  • Motivating and stimulating children’s learning through creative play in making use of, and creating, stimulating resources
  • Achieving the learning goals of the EYFS and maintain the relevant records

General responsibilities:

  • To ensure that at all times the Kindergarten and its outdoor space provides a positive and safe environment for all the children in which to learn
  • To attractively display the children’s work
  • To cover for colleagues when necessary and reasonable
  • To take on the general staff duties required of all full time teachers within the  Kindergarten Unit

Additional responsibilities:

The following duties shall be deemed to be included in the professional duties which you may be required to perform:

  • With the Kindergarten teacher, meet with parents to discuss children’s progress as required
  • Actively promote the Kindergarten across the Foundation and within the local community
  • Attend school functions, relevant Staff meetings and INSET and any other meetings deemed necessary by the Headmaster or Head of Pre-Prep
  • Support and contribute to the Foundation’s responsibility for safeguarding pupils
  • Follow all school policies
