Apprenticeship summary

Job duties:-

Children’s Care:

  • Ensuring the well being, safety and security of the children, post holder will be responsible to Safeguard and promote the welfare of children
  • Help to ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children
  • Helping in setting up and clearing away of activities
  • Ensuring that nursery mealtimes are pleasant social sharing
  • Washing and cleaning children as required
  • Maintaining records
  • Ensure children are collected by someone known to the Nursery
  • Administer first aid as appropriate (after training)
  • Take and Collect children from school if necessary

Children’s learning:

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of a programme of activities to deliver a multicultural play curriculum to simulate children’s interest in learning working with the EYFS frame work
  • Assist in monitoring of the quality of learning
  • Assist in the monitoring and recording of the children’s development/achievement
  • Encouraging parental involvement and support
  • Close liaison with Parents, Schools and other childcare and play related agencies

Management, Organisation and Administration:

  • Working as a member of the team supporting all staff and engaging in a good staff team
  • Assist in administration and organisation as required
  • Ensuring the children’s act 2004/2010 and OFSTED requirements are complied with
  • Operate within the group’s policy framework, particularly in relation to health and safety, child protection and equal opportunities
  • Liaison with parents/carers and other staff to ensure that children are welcomed and supported
  • Participation in appropriate professional development and training including attending staff meeting etc.
  • To respect the confidentiality of information received
  • To uphold the high profile and standards of the nursery at all times
  • Ensure your unit is well maintained, kept organised and look presentable at all times, and to ensure that you and your unit is ready to receive parents by 8am
  • Carry out any other duties in relation to the job purpose that are from time to time required by the Nursery Manager

The Oak Treehouse is located in Shepshed on the Shepshed Campus with St Botolph's Primary School and Iveshead School. We are registered for 34 full days places for children aged 6months - 5years. We encourage both staff and students alike to grow, learn and create during each passing day.

Weekly Wage: £156.00
Working Week: Monday - Friday, shifts TBC
Apprenticeship duration: 18 months
