Advanced apprentices take their learning a step further by developing their cutting and colouring skills so they can carry out all the latest fashion techniques.

Course Content

You'll study topics such as:
  • providing client consultation services
  • creatively styling and dressing hair
  • creatively cutting hair using a combination of techniques
  • creatively colouring and lightening hair


Features and benefits of studying in this way are paid employment and on and off the job training.

The course content will give sound underpinning knowledge of the main areas of work expected within a salon and a solid foundation on which to have a successful career in hairdressing and progress to management, teaching or assessing qualifications.

Entry Requirements

Level 2 Hairdressing or Barbering qualification or a minimum of five GCSEs at grade D or above, one being in English or Maths, or Functional Skills English and Maths at Level 2.

Progression Opportunities

Promotion opportunities exist to become a senior stylist or salon manager.

Mode of Attendance:
The Apprenticeship course is part time to fit around your work commitments, you may be required to attend college on a day release or your tutor will visit you in the work place.

Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships available.

Before you can start an Apprenticeship, you need to be in employment. The course start dates are flexible to fit around your employer.
