This full-time programme of study builds on the skills gained at Level 2. You'll learn advanced skills, including advanced cutting, colour correction, and creative colouring techniques, whilst exploring current and emerging trends within the hairdressing industry.
You will have your own column in the Radmoor Centre's commercial salon, giving you the opportunity to enhance and develop your skills whilst building strong interpersonal skills in preparation for industry.
As well as learning about advanced techniques in cutting, colouring, creative styling, and dressing, you will also study theoretical units, which include health and safety, working with colleagues, and retailing.
As part of the course, alongside your studies, you'll work in the Radmoor Centre's commercial salon as a stylist in a creative team.
Please note that a kit and uniform is required to work in the salon.
The qualification is assessed through a synoptic and a written test. Grading achieved is either Pass, Merit, Distinction, or Distinction *.
This course also offers
- visits to national hair shows
- a visit to the Wella Academy to observe current colour and cutting trends
- demonstrations and workshops from specialist manufacturers, such as Wella and Tigi
- opportunities for work experience in our new, state-of-the-art commercial salon facilities
- A hairdressing-related Level 2 qualification, plus GCSE (or Functional Skills) English and Maths at grade C (or Level 2).
Upon completion of this course, you can further your skills by progressing on to an Apprenticeship, through additional short specialist courses, or by entering the hairdressing industry or self-employment as a stylist or session stylist.

at an Open Day
It's great to read about a college and what it has to offer but there's really no substitute for experiencing it at an Open Day.
At our Open Days, our expert staff are on hand to tell you about our courses and what careers they lead to.
They'll also guide you through our application process, explain the different kinds of support available, and talk to you about the huge variety of enrichment activities that you can be part of.
With opportunities to talk to our current students, as well as take part in tours of our campus and halls of residence, an Open Day really is the best way to get a feel for what it's like to be a Loughborough College student.
