This course is designed for anyone who wants to develop their practical skills in engineering. The course is a natural progression for students who have studied the Performing Engineering Operations at level 1.
The course covers a wide range of engineering subjects. The theoretical subjects which will be covered during the course include:
- Using and communicating technical information
- Working safely in an engineering environment
These are accompanied by more hands on practical subjects such as Fabrication and Welding.
In addition to completing the Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations course you will complete a practical project.
You must be aged between 16 to 19 and have Level 1 Engineering qualification including suitable functional skills grades at the required grade or GCSE Maths and English at grade D or above.
On completion of the course you will have the opportunity to progress onto the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, offered here at Loughborough College and/or provide the basis from which to apply for an engineering apprenticeship.

It's great to read about a college and what it has to offer but there's really no substitute for experiencing it at an Open Day.
At our Open Days, our expert staff are on hand to tell you about our courses and what careers they lead to.
They'll also guide you through our application process, explain the different kinds of support available, and talk to you about the huge variety of enrichment activities that you can be part of.
With opportunities to talk to our current students, as well as take part in tours of our campus and halls of residence, an Open Day really is the best way to get a feel for what it's like to be a Loughborough College student.
