This course gives learners the opportunity to learn engineering and electrical skills while improving their maths and English grades to a pass mark.

Learners focus on developing the craft skills needed to work in the Electrical and Engineering sector by studying a combination of engineering and electrical disciplines in our dedicated workshops and also compiling a portfolio.

Course Content

This course includes a blend of practical and theory units designed to develop your skills in:

  • Engineering Health & Safety
  • Working Efficiently and Effectively in Engineering
  • Producing Components Using Hand Fitting, Turning and Fabrication
  • Installing Electrical Equipment
  • Domestic and Commercial Rewiring
  • Electrical Principles
  • Compiling a Portfolio
  • Practical Experience
  • Reading and Communicating Technical Information

Entry Requirements

Three GCSEs at grade D/3 and a positive reference.

Progression Opportunities

On completion of the course you will have the opportunity to progress onto the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, offered here at Loughborough College and/or provide the basis from which to apply for an engineering apprenticeship.
