This qualification is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a highly-skilled professional in the fitness industry. You will learn how to effectively plan and teach personalised exercise programmes, as well as how to teach group exercise classes.
You will cover a variety of areas, including:
- programming personal training with clients
- delivering personal training sessions
- applying the principles of nutrition as part of a personal training programme
You will be assessed through a combination of written tests, observed practical assessments, and case studies.
Each course has between 8-12 days face to face delivery combined with distance learning and assessment.
The teaching staff on the Personal Trainer Award regularly deliver classes themselves, as well as personally training clients. On top of their wealth of knowledge and experience, gained over many years of involvement with the fitness industry, staff have excellent links with employers in the East Midlands.
They'll ensure that you have access to a variety of training courses, including circuit training and group indoor cycling, to maximise your employability.

This course may be eligible for the new 24 Plus Advanced Learning Loan.
- A relevant Level 2 qualification, such as the Level 2 Diploma in Teaching, Exercise and Fitness or Level 2 Fitness Instructor.
- You must be over 18.
The Level 3 Personal Trainer Award is highly-regarded in both the UK and abroad, qualifying you to work as a self-employed personal trainer and leading to a varied and fulfilling career.
