This programme has been specially designed for students in transition between full-time specialist provision and supported work and living.
Students progressing from special schools/specialist provision at Entry Level 1 and Entry Level 2 are provided with a range of opportunities to gain Entry Level qualifications in employability skills and vocational experience in all or some of the following areas: Café Chino, helping in the workshop, maintaining the College garden/allotment, or assisting in the enterprise/arts workshop.
Students will also develop:
- skills in writing and managing money
- wider communication skills
- skills for independent living
- employability skills for the supported workplace
The programme is accredited through Edexcel and City & Guilds and students are given the opportunity to achieve externally accredited qualifications. Depending on progression routes, these qualifications are either awards or certificates.
There are no formal entry requirements but students will, where practical, be expected to build on previous skills.
Where development is evident, students can progress on to a second-stage Transitions course, Steps to Success, or Moving On.

at an Open Day
It's great to read about a college and what it has to offer but there's really no substitute for experiencing it at an Open Day.
At our Open Days, our expert staff are on hand to tell you about our courses and what careers they lead to.
They'll also guide you through our application process, explain the different kinds of support available, and talk to you about the huge variety of enrichment activities that you can be part of.
With opportunities to talk to our current students, as well as take part in tours of our campus and halls of residence, an Open Day really is the best way to get a feel for what it's like to be a Loughborough College student.
