Our Blended Learning Apprenticeship Offer

Investment in staff training is key for any successful organisation and apprenticeships offer a great opportunity to upskill your workforce. However, apprenticeship delivery is not without its challenges.

The Need for Flexibility

We have worked in partnership with Mindful Education to create a suite of flexible apprenticeships that combine online learning with face-to-face classroom sessions.

Our Online and On Campus apprenticeships have been designed with employers in mind – requiring less time in college than traditional delivery models and minimising disruption in the workplace. This flexible approach means that apprentices can choose how, when and where they want to study.

Online and On Campus – the best of both worlds

Online video lectures are available on demand, and can be viewed from a phone, tablet or computer. Lessons last for around 45 minutes and are accompanied by animations and motion graphics to bring concepts to life. Online study means that apprentices do not need to attend college as frequently as with traditional delivery models.

On campus apprentices benefit from regular college classes. Experienced college tutors will discuss and reinforce key learning points from online study and are on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment. Time out of the workplace is reduced thanks to the online learning materials.

The Apprenticeship Levy

Employers with an annual wage bill of over £3 million are required to pay the levy at 0.5% each month. Your levy fund, plus additional government funding, can then be accessed for training and assessment on approved apprenticeship schemes.

Managing the 20% Off-the-job Training Requirement

All apprenticeships, regardless of how they are funded, require the apprentice to spend a minimum of 20% of their apprenticeship on training. But this does not have to mean that apprentices spend one day in every five out of the workplace.

The Online and On Campus apprenticeship model provides greater flexibility as apprentices can log in to study during quiet periods at work. All activity is recorded and counts towards the 20% off-the-job requirement.

Note regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19):

Due to the nature of our Online and On Campus courses, with key concepts being taught online through high-quality video lectures, students are able to continue their studies seamlessly with social distancing in place or if the college has to close. Regular ‘On Campus’ lessons are replaced by remote ‘virtual classroom’ sessions led by college tutors. This flexible approach can be easily adapted to suit government guidance and college policies.
