Advanced Apprenticeship in Children and Young People's Social Care (Level 3)

Now is a great time to think about becoming an Apprentice. There are more opportunities than ever before for those looking to work with children and young people, and Apprenticeships in this area can lead to secure employment upon completion. This Apprenticeship gives people a fulfilling opportunity to work with children and young people while also gaining an understanding into the 'hows' and 'whys' of their development. Equally, it ensures candidates put childcare theory into practice.

Course Content

  • Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (Level 3)
  • Award in Employment Responsibilities and Rights in Children & Young People's Settings (Level 2)
  • Functional Skills Maths Level 2 (if required)
  • Functional Skills English Level 2 (if required)

  • Child and young person development
  • Supporting speech, language and communication
  • Health & safety

  • Children's welfare, learning and development

In addition you will select one of three pathways to tailor the Apprenticeship to the requirements of your company, these pathways are:

1. Early Learning and Childcare pathway

  • Context and Principles for Early Years Provision
  • Promote Learning and Development in the Early Years
  • Promote Children's Welfare and Wellbeing in the Early Years
  • Professional Practice in Early Years Settings
  • Support Children's Speech, Language and Communication

2. Social Care Pathway

  • Assessment and Planning with Children and Young People
  • Promote the Wellbeing and Resilience of Children and Young People
  • Professional Practice in Children and Young People's Social Care

3. Learning, Development and Support Services pathway

  • Support Children and Young People to Achieve Their Education Potential
  • Support Children and Young People to Make Positive Changes in Their Lives
  • Professional Practice in Learning, Development and Support Services

Entry Requirements

The Advanced Level Apprenticeship is for those who work or are available to work in the sector on their own initiative, planning and organising their own work and/or supervising others, for example, a nursery nurse, playgroup leader or a childminder working in their own home.

Those learners wishing to undertake the Early Years Educator pathway are required to have GCSE English and Maths grade A*- C
