Apprenticeship AAT in Accounting (Level 4)

  • This apprenticeship is delivered predominantly within a classroom environment (usually on a day release basis) where the apprentice is able to access excellent resources to develop their practice. 
  • The delivery team are vocationally expert and are able to share their knowledge and experience of excellent accountancy practice. 
  • The apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a dedicated Instructor/Trainer.  The Instructor/Trainer will liaise with the employer to ensure that the progress of the apprenticeship is maintained.  In addition, the apprentice will utilise the support tools within the electronic mapping and tracking tool that the College utilises

Course Content

  • AAT Level 4 Diploma
  • Functional Skills Maths Level 2 (if required)
  • Functional Skills English Level 2 (if required)

Modules

Mandatory units include:

  • Principles of drafting financial statements
  • Drafting financial statements
  • Principles of budgeting
  • Drafting budgets
  • Principles of managing financial performance
  • Measuring financial performance
  • Principles of internal control
  • Evaluating accounting systems

In addition you will select from a wide range of optional units to tailor the Apprenticeship to the requirements of your company, such as:

  • Principles of Credit Management and Control of Credit and Debit
  • Principles and Calculating Personal Tax
  • Principles and Calculating Business Tax
  • Principles of External Audit and Auditing Financial Statements

Entry Requirements

  • Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Accounting or an AAT Level 3 Diploma
  • You need to be working in a relevant permanent job for at least 30 hours per week - If you don't have an employer, you can apply for Apprenticeship vacancies via Apprenticeship Vacancies Online (AVOL).

Progression Opportunities

  • A Higher Apprenticeship can aid you in your progression to further studies, such as ACCA, ICAEW, CIMA and CIPFA, through exemption of certain parts of the syllabus
