Announcement is latest recognition for training and teaching excellence at Loughborough College

Loughborough College has received further recognition for its training and teaching excellence – with the announcement that it has re-secured a coveted spot on a register for high-quality apprenticeship providers.

The news follows hot on the heels of the College being awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework, for delivering consistently outstanding teaching and learning outcomes which are recognized as ‘of the highest quality found in the UK’. The College is also set to join a brand new wave of vocational education after being selected to deliver T levels - high-quality technical alternatives to A-levels.

Already rated Outstanding for apprenticeships by education watchdog Ofsted and following a rigorous assessment process, Loughborough College will join the latest national Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP).

“The Institute of Apprenticeships has introduced new standards and quality measures which have really raised the bar. So our success in securing approval to join the latest register really is further testament to the calibre of training we continue to deliver,” said Paula Allerton, Head of Employer Engagement and Apprenticeships at Loughborough College.

From micro businesses to multi-nationals, the College works across health and science, engineering, business and finance, service industries, sport and logistics and distribution. “Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains recently selected us as partners, opening the door for Loughborough College apprentices to work on Formula One engines and our other successful partnerships include DHL, Leicester City Football Club, Morningside Pharmaceuticals, Mars Petcare and Cavendish Nuclear as well as several local NHS Hospitals and councils.

“Whether it’s professional qualifications or apprenticeships at entry, advanced or degree level, the work we do with increasing numbers of employers enables those companies and their apprentices to thrive.”

Loughborough College CEO John Doherty said: “We are delighted to have secured approval to join the latest RoATP. With a College heritage spanning more than a century of teaching and training, we are very proud of this latest achievement. This recognition, together with the College being awarded TEF Gold and the exciting news that we have been selected to deliver the new T-levels, reflects the range and the high levels of quality and experience we offer our students.

“We look forward to continuing to work with all our partners to provide opportunities which not only transform our students’ future prospects but also meet the skills employers need and which help to boost our region’s economy.”
