Body armour donation offers Loughborough College students vital insight into future careers

Loughborough College is set to boost students’ understanding of crucial front line equipment after receiving a second donation of body armour.

Public Services students are being offered a vital insight into the field skills needed for their future careers through using the premium bulletproof vests provided by SafeGuard Clothing.

“The vests give our students a really effective extra dimension to their learning.

“They get hands-on experience through role-play as well as the opportunity to see first-hand the structure, type and characteristics of equipment used for a range of roles,” said Daniel Bellion, Lecturer in Public Services at Loughborough College.

“Whether they join British Transport Police, move into security, or work as prison officers it is highly likely they will encounter and be required to use this equipment, so we are very grateful to SafeGuard for donating it.”

Thomas Bowman, from the worldwide manufacturer and distributor of body armour, added: “As part of our national education initiative, we are committed to supporting and improving Public Services students’ knowledge base.

“We are pleased to help increase their preparedness for the line of work they have chosen.”

SafeGuard are also involved in research and development for new body armour materials.
