Commonwealth Games 2018: Dan Goodfellow and Tom Daley win diving gold

Dan Goodfellow has won diving gold with Tom Daley at the Commonwealth Games

An Olympic bronze medallist with Daley and former Loughborough College student, Goodfellow and his partner beat fellow English pair Matthew Dixon and Noah Williams to take the title in the synchronized 10m platform.

The pair had a poor final dive but took gold on 405.81 points. Dixon and Williams won silver with 399.99 and Australia's Domonic Bedggood and Declan Stacey were third.

Dan said: “The second dive which is usually my best one but it was short and vertical so it was a bit of a fight.

“Tom has been struggling all week but it shows what a great competitor he is. We only did our dives two days ago so we didn't know what would happen."

“We’re not here for long now but we’re going to enjoy it. “

Daley pulled out of the individual 10m platform through injury: “It was a close call as to whether I would be pulled from the synchro as well. I didn't know if I was going to be able to compete so this medal means a whole lot to me.”
