Commonwealth Games 2018: Loughborough College’s Sophie Hahn storms to record-breaking victory

Loughborough College athlete Sophie Hahn MBE has claimed a record-breaking gold medal at the Commonwealth Games T38 100m – with alumna Olivia Breen taking bronze.

Sophie crossed the line a time of 12.46 for the Commonwealth record, giving England their first gold on the track at the Carrara Stadium.

The win on the Gold Coast completes a remarkable clean sweep of all four major titles for the 21 year old Loughborough College Sport student who already holds the Paralympic, World and European Championship titles in the event.

I’m so, so happy,” said Sophie. “The key thing is to be consistent.” Australian Rhiannon Clarke took silver and Olivia’s bronze for Wales was her second medal of the Games after the former Loughborough College student took gold in the long jump T38, also setting a new Commonwealth record.
