England Women select six Loughborough College rugby players for U18 squad

Six Loughborough College rugby players have been selected for the England Women U18 squad to face emerging Wales Women at the Principality Stadium on Tuesday 30 April.

Phoebe Andrews, Jessica Weaver, Grace White, Jodie Ounsley, Holly Thorpe and Rebecca Udall are named for the Talent Development Group (TDG) side.

“These six players have achieved so much over the course of the season, whether that be playing for Loughborough Lighting first XV in the Tyrrells Premiership, Loughborough Lightning development or with Loughborough College,” said Brad Jones, who heads women’s rugby at the College.

“However, reaching the heights of playing for England TDG against Wales in the Principality Stadium is a massive achievement for the players. To gain this opportunity is testament to the effort, commitment and talent they have shown over the past year.”

This will be the second fixture that the U18 TDG have played this season – and the second time six Loughborough College players have been selected for the side. Grace, Rebecca and Jessica were joined for the first game in March by fellow students Orla McCallion, Lily Culf and Morwenna Taling, helping the squad defeat Scotland in Preston.

The TDG is a part of the England Women performance pathway, which identifies emerging talent at U18 level and provides meaningful playing opportunities.
