Posted: 16th February 2017 - 3:29pm

Students from the FCV International Football Academy are going to benefit from a new partnership with Loughborough College.

From September 2017 onwards, the world-renowned centre for sporting excellence in Leicestershire will be the new education partner for the UK's first private football academy, based in Stamford.

Established in 1909, Loughborough College has a proud, long-standing reputation for providing excellent levels of high-quality teaching and training across the UK.

The FCV International Football Academy is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary year, having been founded in 2007. It offers academic football courses for aspiring footballers aged 14 and over, and is dedicated to producing professional players whilst also providing a pathway for academic excellence.

Helen Van Aardt, Head of Sport at Loughborough College, said: “We are delighted to be working with FCV International Football Academy.

“Loughborough College educates athletes as they rise through the sporting ranks and we watch them achieve on the national and international stage, whether topping the Premier League or winning Olympic and Paralympic medals.

“This partnership will provide an outstanding combined sport and education offer and open up a wide range of opportunities for students.”

Graham Starmer, Managing Director at FCV International Football Academy, said: “This is another important step forward for the Academy. Loughborough College already works with leading professional sports clubs and National Governing Bodies, supporting the educational development of aspiring sports professionals and we are proud to add our name to the list of elite sports organisations that they work with.

“We can now offer courses to full-time students who start with us in January of each year, as well as September, and we are able to offer part-time courses to our short course students, too. These are all new opportunities that we haven’t been able to offer before and we are confident the partnership with Loughborough College will ensure the Academy continues to grow.”
