A Loughborough College lecturer is celebrating news from Westminster that he has achieved the highest level possible in a nationwide scheme.

Christopher Price has been awarded UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Gold status and has been thanked for his “excellent work” by the Parliament Education Service.

The Public Services and Business lecturer was last year selected from more than a hundred names across the country to attend the Service’s tenth annual Teachers’ Institute at the Houses of Parliament, which included question and answer sessions with Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow and the Lord Speaker Baroness D’Souza – and an unexpected meeting with Prime Minister Theresa May.

Price has since been busy working as an ambassador, training Loughborough College staff and students in the role, work and history of Parliament and delivering sessions about democracy.

“I’m delighted to receive the news that I’ve reached Gold level status in recognition of the work I have done as a UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador,” said Price.

“I am very much looking forward to developing my training through further opportunities I’ve been offered at Gold Ambassador level and to building on the work I’ve been doing to engage students and staff not only at the College but also in the Loughborough area.”
