More than 900 students, distinguished guests, family and friends gathered to celebrate at the Town Hall this week for Loughborough College’s 2018 graduation ceremonies.

Loughborough College CEO John Doherty welcomed local dignitaries, including the Mayor of Charnwood Cllr Christine Harris and Leader of Leicestershire County Council Ozzy O’Shea and speakers including Olympic swimmer, double Commonwealth and European medallist and Loughborough College alumnus Joe Roebuck, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire Michael Kapur OBE and Matthew Easthope, Product Engineering Director at Trellborg Antivibration Systems UK, alongside College partners Nottingham Trent University, Loughborough University, the University of Warwick and the University of Derby.

The Chief Executive told graduands: “I speak on behalf of all my colleagues when I say how proud we are of each and every one of you. We are delighted to be here to share in your celebrations.”

John Doherty also took the opportunity to express gratitude to Loughborough College staff for their dedication, hard work and commitment, to the employers who work closely with the College and to parents, relatives and friends. “The achievement of a degree-level qualification is seldom managed without the support of those nearest to us.”

Chris Cockerton, Head of Higher Education at Loughborough College, paid tribute to more than 200 students receiving Degrees with Honours, Foundation Degrees and Higher Nationals in a range of professional, technical and academic subjects.
