ITV hears from Loughborough College students on pioneering space engineering programme

ITV has been speaking to students at Loughborough College on the pioneering Space Engineering programme who could one day become leaders in the industry.

The space sector is booming and, following news that the government is boosting its funding and launching an initiative to attract more young people into science, technology, engineering and maths, Central News dropped in to see Loughborough College students in action.

The Space Engineering programme, launched by Loughborough College in association with the National Space Academy, is the first course of its kind in the UK. Dr Zoe Washington talked to ITV about the doors it opens, including meeting astronauts and the chance to get involved with real life research missions into life on Mars.

And after joining an exciting experiment with the National Space Academy’s Sophie Allan and a workshop with John Holt from the University of Leicester’s Space Research Centre, ITV heard from Loughborough College Space students Yazmin Bath, Ant Ioannou, Thomas Danvers, Xeimon Parker-Cox and Jake Bennett about how the course has inspired them.
