Journalism dream set to become reality for Loughborough College student

James Hyden-Shepherd says his dream of a career in journalism is a step closer to becoming reality - thanks to Loughborough College.

The 19 year old A–level student is thrilled to have been offered a coveted place with Falmouth University to study journalism.

“The College has given me the opportunity to write several articles which were submitted to the Loughborough Echo and which were accepted for publication and to appear online.

“I was told at my Falmouth interview that this really impressed them and was important in their decision to offer me an interview and a place.

“The University has a fantastic reputation for media and I am hoping to study for a degree in pure journalism –gaining skills across a range of broadcast, print and online platforms. They even have their own studio and newsroom there.

“I have enjoyed writing ever since I can remember and Loughborough College has given me so much encouragement and so many opportunities to develop.

“Seeing my work in print and online has massively boosted my confidence,”added James, who studies A-levels in Maths and Physics as well as English Language and Creative Writing.

“Eventually I would love to get into travel writing or perhaps tech journalism. But for now I am getting excited about Falmouth. It can’t come soon enough.”
