Posted: 3rd May 2017 - 3:13pm

Students performed to a packed Loughborough College theatre at a live gig to boost charity funds.

‘The Colours of Youth’ was arranged by students on the Music course at the College to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Lydia Mason, 18, from Barrow Upon Soar, led organisation for the evening with a four-band line up including Loughborough College bands Equinoxx, Skribbles MC and The Spriggs and local band Scribble Victory.

“We wanted to present a really uplifting set that captured what’s important to young people today,” said Lydia, who sings lead vocals for Equinoxx.

“I had been involved in a gig in Leicester for the Teenage Cancer Trust to support the charity after a friend lost her sister to cancer and the bands involved decided to focus our fundraising efforts on the charity for the Loughborough College gig.”

This was the second year Music BTEC students’ last performance of their course. “That was quite sad but we were raising money for a fantastic cause.

We have all had a great time studying music at Loughborough College and what I have learnt and the opportunities it has given me have definitely helped me get the internship I’ll be going on to, with the music management company Dreaming in Colour Productions. “

'The Colours of Youth' gig raised £118.05 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
