Loughboroough College rugby rising star set to make professional debut

Loughborough College rising star Joshua Jackson is preparing for one of the most daunting prospects of his rugby career.

The 17 year old will not only be making his professional debut for Coventry Bears this Friday night but he will also be facing reigning Super League Champions, the Leeds Rhinos.

The young player, known as JJ, who is part of the successful Midlands Hurricanes Rugby League programme at Loughborough College and recently signed with the Bears , will face his challenge at Butts Park Arena.

“I feel like I have been given a massive opportunity to showcase my talents and potential,” said JJ.

“Making my debut at home is special but against a world class side like Leeds Rhinos is something I am sure I won’t forget.”

Coventry Bears work with the Midlands Academy education programme at Loughborough College to boost opportunities for the stars of the future, providing the chance for progression into the professional game.

“For JJ to be on the same field as the Rhinos is a huge honour. When you look through the Leeds squad, it has players of vast Super League experience and players who are about to become big names. Josh Walters won the Grand Final for Leeds three years ago whilst their academy production line is up there with the best in the world,” added Greg Mannion, Head of Midlands Huricanes Rugby League at Loughborough College.

“This is something JJ will be able to tell his friends and family about for a very long time, and the team and I are behind him all the way. I am sure he will enjoy it!”
