Posted: 22nd August 2019 - 9:30am

Loughborough College is today celebrating GCSE success with an outstanding pass rate and high-level grades placing it significantly above the national average. More students than ever re-sat their English and maths exams at the College, achieving an overall pass rate of 99% - and 338 learners were awarded grades in the desired 9-4 band (equivalent to the former A*-C) in those subjects. Almost half of students (45%) who studied at the Loughborough College campus passed English at the higher grades 9-4 and a notable 34% in maths. Loughborough College CEO John Doherty said: “We are extremely proud of our learners and of our teaching and curriculum services team. Together they have worked incredibly hard to achieve the results we see today – and which are significantly above the average seen across the country. “Amongst today’s success we have seen the highest possible grade awarded in English, while 83 of our learners are proudly taking home 5-9 grades and 18 performed at a high level by achieving grades 4-9 in both English and maths. “The College’s excellent GCSE English and maths re-take programme has once again ensured that a significant number of learners have been able to improve their grade with us since leaving school, helping to enhance their opportunities for future progression and employment.”
