Loughborough College graduation this week marked a double award-winning year for Emma Dibb.

After receiving her Foundation Degree in Business and Management with Distinction at the Loughborough Town Hall ceremony, Emma was once again called to the stage to accept the Overall Foundation Degree Student of the Year Award, alongside fellow graduate Courtney York.

The accolade followed Emma, 22, being named as 2018 Entrepreneurial Student of the Year as part of the Young Enterprise Start-Up Company of the Year competition.

“It had already been wonderful to receive my degree. It’s so special to share the ceremony with your friends who have all worked so hard. But then I was listening to the description of the Overall Student joint winners and suddenly they announced my and Courtney’s names, I couldn’t believe it. It was nerve-wracking to go up on stage again but lovely that Courtney and I did it together.

“I felt so proud to be presented with the award. Loughborough College has been amazing, incredibly supportive. Whenever I needed help or advice there was always someone from the team there and with the small classes I got lots of one on one. It’s really helped build my confidence and I’ve recommended the College to all my friends.

“I’ve moved from a Business Administration apprenticeship and qualification with the College to the Foundation Degree and I’m returning there to study there for my BA (Hons) in Leadership and Management.

“I’ve been working part-time throughout my time with Loughborough College and I’ll be continuing as an administrative assistant at the Sacred Heart Primary School in Loughborough. I really enjoy it and it’s been fantastic to take the skills I’ve learnt there into my degree and the knowledge I’ve gained from my studies into work. Now I’m excited to see where my next degree will take me.”

Loughborough College Management degree lead Iqbal Ullah added: “Emma’s team leadership skills have been excellent but despite having real focus on her own academic studies she always made time to help her fellow students boost their own standards. Emma’s determination, hard work and dedication have produced outstanding accomplishments.”
