Loughborough College joins Trade Mission during Bahrain partnership bicentennial

Loughborough College has been meeting with government representatives in Bahrain during an important bicentennial year of partnerships to explore opportunities to work together.

“We are privileged to be part of a Trade Mission with the Department for Investment and Trade during this 200 year celebration and to have the opportunity to discuss the potential for our own partnership with the government-led Economic Development Board,” said Gemma Knott, Director of Business Development at Loughborough College.

“It has been productive to better understand how Loughborough College can work with the Bahrain government to help them towards their 2030 vision goals and objectives.

“Although 90% of Bahraini students graduate from the University of Bahrain, there is a real lack of employability skills training meaning that many graduates lack the necessary skills to find suitable employment. This is leading to a skills gap in Bahrain, particularly at the higher technical
level.

“For this reason, as part of their vision to ensure growth, the Bahrainis are particularly interested in developing apprenticeship frameworks similar to those implemented by Loughborough College.

“It has been a delight to attend the Bahrain British Business Forum Bicentary Celebrations where the UK Ambassador to Bahrain emphasised the real drive to overhaul the education system in Bahrain.

“Loughborough College is certainly looking forward to building upon these new relationships."
