Students from Loughborough College are showcasing their musical talents to help boost the valuable work of the area’s oldest local charities.

Live performances are amongst a range of support being provided by Oscar Turner, Georgie Welsh, Conan Herbert-Keene and Cole O’Connor-Woodman at the Loughborough store for Vista, who have been working with children, adults and their families with sight loss across Leicestershire and Rutland for more than 150 years.

Alongside their live acoustic guitar and vocal sessions, the students have assisted with promotion and retail services. “I would like to thank the music students and Loughborough College for all their performances and on-going efforts in helping me promote the new musical fundraising events in-store at Vista Loughborough,” said store manager Troy Shackleford.

“I am really looking forward to next term when we can showcase more musical talent and give our customers yet another great reason to come into our beautiful boutique and enjoy the outstanding live performances and help us generate more funding for Vista.”

Loughborough College employment broker Lisa Newby added: “Our students’ performances in the front area of the shop have helped draw passers by into the shop. This, combined with the customer service and marketing they have been doing, has helped support Vista – and has helped them gain valuable skills and real- work experience.

“Troy has also offered support with the students’ CVs and references – and he is keen to work with our music students next year. Cole and Georgie will be joining me to let our new students know about this fantastic opportunity but will meanwhile be appearing at the Wicked Hathern Fest and will continue to perform in the Vista shop throughout August.”
