Loughborough College students gain insight into rapidly growing electric vehicle charging industry

With more than one million electric vehicles expected to be on the road by next year, Loughborough College students have been gaining an insight into the rapidly growing charging industry.

Rolec, who manufacture and supply more than 100,000 charging points across Europe, visited the College to talk to electrical installation students and apprentices about their cutting edge technology, as well as the job opportunities being created by the explosion in demand.

Technical Manager Gary Frost shared some of the state of the art features introduced by the company for EV charging points in homes and businesses, including their Smart Solution system. This operates via GPRS and can relay information from any charging point location for reporting and analysis.

Engineering technician at Loughborough College, Keith Large, said: “Our learners were certainly inspired by hearing from such a major player in this leading edge green industry and by discovering the career opportunities on offer.

“We would like to thank Rolec and Lenton Electrical Supplies, who organised the presentations and also support our Electrical Installation student of the year awards.”
