Rio 2016: Gold for Loughborough College’s Sophie Hahn delivers full set of major international titles

Winning gold at the 2016 Paralympic Games last night completed a full set of major international titles for Loughborough College athlete Sophie Hahn – who is still only 19.

Hahn said she was “delighted” with her Paralympic record-equalling run of 12.62 in the 100m T38.

“It’s unbelievable. Four years ago I was on holiday glued to the TV watching the Paralympic Games every day and now I’m a Paralympic Champion. It’s incredible.

“There’s been a lot of hard work, tears that have gone into the last few years and it’s all paid off, so I’m really happy.

“It’s amazing to have my mum and dad here and looking forward to seeing them after as they’ve been a great support to me.”

Paralympics GB teammate Kadeena Cox, from Leeds, was third in 13.01 with Loughborough College student Olivia Breen seventh in 13.41.
