Rio 2016: Loughborough College student Molly Renshaw says she’s ready for main event

Molly Renshaw’s Olympic debut yesterday saw her miss out on progressing to the 100m Breaststroke semi finals by six tenths of a second – but the Loughborough College student says it was only a preparation swim for her signature event this week.

The 20 year old sport student, who came in at 1:07.92 in the Breaststroke heats on day two, said she was pleased with her performance – and is ready for the 200m on Wednesday.

"I was really pleased with that time, it's probably my quickest ever heats swim in the 100m and it shows that my front end speed is really there, which bodes really well.

"Things have been going great in training and the preparation camp couldn't have been better for me and I feel in good form and confident about my chances.

"This was just a bonus swim for me and it was great to get into the pool, experience the crowd and prepare for the 200m.

"I've having the time of my life out here and I don't want to go home to be honest.

“However, I've got to focus on the racing and I've a couple of days to keep preparing and hopefully I can swim to my very best in my main event."
