Rugby Championship deals for College names

Two rugby rising stars from Loughborough College have been handed contracts with London Broncos.

The Championship side have signed Jacob Jones and Cameron Kendall to their full-tiime U19 squad.

The 17 year olds are in their second year of the Midlands Hurricanes programme at Loughborough College and are set to split their time between here and the capital.

Head of the RFL Midlands programme, Greg Mannion, said the pair’s success is further testament to the programme’s success, with player numbers continuing to grow and many securing trials and contracts with Super League and Championship clubs.

“We are incredibly proud of the players and this is just rewards for their commitment and hard work.

“Opportunities like these demonstrate the strength of the Midlands Hurricanes and the programme here at Loughborough College.

“There is a persistent perception of rugby league outside the heartlands which we are very successfully turning around. The Hurricanes are in contention for the League title and are the only team in the top six from outside the heartlands.

“We wish Jacob and Cameron all the very best going forward and hope to see them represent the Hurricanes in the Broncos’ first team very soon.”
