Specialist nursing career beckons for Loughborough College student after GCSE results

A Loughborough College student is celebrating taking a step closer to a specialist nursing career after receiving her GCSE results.

Helen Morgan, 19, has spent a year studying on an access to higher education course in health studies alongside her GCSE in Maths at the College and is now thrilled to be heading to university.

“There are so many vulnerable people in need and I want to help support them so I am really happy to have been accepted to study for a degree in Learning Disability Nursing at the University of Northampton.

“I have had a great year at Loughborough College – I have loved the environment and it has certainly been my best ever time studying maths! I actually understood the subject and didn’t dread lessons. My teachers, Kate, Sarah, James, Charlotte and Clare were amazing. If I was struggling in maths, Kate and Sarah fired me up and kept me going. I never got that at school so them never giving up on me was huge.

“When I opened my results I didn’t believe what I was seeing on the paper. It was crazy. I got a 4, which would have been a C and my heart dropped. I was crying, I felt so overwhelmed. It took ages to sink in – but I feel so good now. I am sad to leave the College but I can’t wait to go to university. I am ready for a new adventure.”
