Studio time for Loughborough College students as they prepare for live radio

Budding broadcasters from Loughborough College have been preparing to go live on air by getting hands on in a radio studio.

More than 50 students studying Media have been building their production and presentation skills before taking the helm of their own show.

The Loughborough College students had a go at introducing guests and interviewing them and got to grips with controls to play music and present talk radio before being shown a range of other facilities, equipment and opportunities available to them as part of their college membership of Loughborough Students Union, including television studios, magazine journalism and video cameras.

“The students picked up a huge range of technical skills and had a great time mock interviewing each other and introducing music in preparation for the live show they are planning for campus radio.

“They also set up a photo shoot including lighting and props as part of the promotional material they are creating for the show,” said Loughborough College IT and Media progress tutor Keira Hand.

“Everyone really enjoyed getting hands on with the equipment at Loughborough University and exploring the other opportunities on offer in broadcast, print and digital journalism and photography. Having these facilities open to them and on their doorstep certainly gives them a valuable advantage when it comes to gaining experience for their future careers.”
