Tech apprenticeship for talented Loughborough College student

A local tech company has been so impressed with the talent and dedication of a Loughborough College student, they have taken him on as an apprentice.

Tyler Fowler made an outstanding impression on bosses at ERUD IT while on work experience with the company alongside his IT studies at the College – recently awarded Outstanding for its apprenticeships by education watchdog Ofsted.

After earning glowing feedback at the end of his placement from the Hickley-based company, which provides IT services across the UK, the 17 year old offered to continue working there unpaid during his free periods from the College.

“I was working on system maintenance, setting up computers at ERUD IT and going out with them to clients to assist with general trouble shooting.

“There were so many skills I was picking up in lessons at College and that was really supporting what I was doing with ERUD IT – and the experience I was gaining with the company really enhanced everything I was studying on my IT course.

“The work placement finished but I didn’t want to stop so I offered to continue and every spare moment I had I was there.

“When they told me they were offering me an apprenticeship it was amazing. My parents are really proud.

“Now I get to learn on the job with ERUD IT and study for industry standard qualifications with the College. I am so excited to have this opportunity to develop my career. Who knows where it might lead?”

“ERUD IT were very impressed with Tyler’s skills and his commitment. The apprenticeship they offered him is a real testament to his hard work and his talent,” said Loughborough College IT progress tutor Keira Hand.

“As a team we are all very proud of Tyler’s achievement and we wish him all the best for the future.”
