Loughborough College Public Services students found their lesson transformed into a top secret mission when Enigma sent them on a code-cracking race against time.

Valuable minutes ticked away as teams faced a series of complex puzzles to track down vital documents stolen by a double agent from Bletchley Park and to escape from a locked room.

Enigma is an innovative experience created by Loughborough College’s e-Learning team which uses gaming dynamics to challenge students and boost 120 different skills, including in English, Maths and digital.

Tim Turner, Public Services lead at the College, said: “The students were captivated from the moment the secret agent revealed the mission and for every one of the 90 minutes it took for them to reach the debrief location.

“It enabled individuals to really step up as well as to work effectively in teams.

“Not only was there useful historical background and tasks which worked well for the security aspects of our course but Enigma ensured there was constant stretching across a whole range of skills.

“Everyone had a great time too!”
