Young Minds cause close to hearts of Loughborough College fundraisers

There was a big screen boost for a cause close to the hearts of Loughborough College Caring Services students and staff recently when they organized an event to support Young Minds.

Caring Services put together a Christmas-themed film night to raise awareness of mental health issues and to help back the valuable work done by the national charity.

“We decided to get everyone together for a screening of Elf, selling tickets for the film as well as popcorn and drinks. There was also a raffle with fantastic prizes donated by our students with all proceeds going to Young Minds.

“It is a charity very close to the hearts of our students and staff in Caring Services and it was important to us that we help in any way we could to raise funds for them,” said Sharon Geary, lead in Social Care at Loughborough College.

“The night also provided an opportunity to raise awareness amongst students regarding mental health issues in young people and the vital support available inside and outside college.

“Our students were enthusiastic and determined to make the night a success and we were all very proud to be able to pass on a cheque for £297.00 to Young Minds.”
