Stephenson College Apprentices hold their prize from the Archies Awards

This week, representatives from Stephenson College attended the UK Material Handling Association’s ‘Archies’ Awards, where they secured a ‘Highly Commended’ recognition in the Training Provider of the Year category!

Stephenson College Apprentice, Dan Allen, also scooped up the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ win for the second year running for his work as an apprentice with Crown Trucks, earning himself a well-deserved £500 cheque.

Dan, who completed his Level 3 Lift Truck Engineering Apprenticeship with the college earlier this year, wowed judges yet again with his dedication, knowledge and professionalism.

Other Apprentice of the Year finalists from Stephenson College included Thomas Bassham and Xavier Graham of Crown Lift Trucks, and Connor Johnson of West Mercia Fork Trucks.

The awards, which took place at the Vox Conference Centre in Birmingham, aim to celebrate the innovation, dedication and excellence that makes the materials handling industry thrive.

Fifteen awards were handed out on the night, covering everything from Sustainability Excellence to Best Safety Initiative.

Paul Dancer, Director of Engineering, Transport and Future Technologies at Stephenson College, said ‘It was a pleasure to attend the Archies Awards in support of four of our brilliant apprentices who were nominated in the Apprentice of the Year category.

“We were also thrilled that the college was a finalist in the Training Provider of the Year category, in which we were awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ recognition for our work on bringing new talent into the industry with apprenticeship programmes and upskilling the current workforce through technical training and CPD opportunities.

“Well done to all of our apprentices for their hard work and dedication, and thank you to our employer partners with whom we work to ensure our young people get the very best out of their apprenticeship programmes.

“We look forward to continuing our work with UKMHA to support the material handling industry to evolve and thrive for many years to come.”
