Our exciting new HNC in Esports is designed to give students an overview of the Esports industry, empowering them to thrive in this competitive industry. Students benefit from our state-of-the-art facilities and specialised equipment, enhancing their understanding of Esports concepts and practices.

Whether aspiring to become Esports managers, content creators, event organisers, or industry analysts, students are equipped with the expertise needed to thrive in this rapidly evolving industry.

One of the exciting elements of this program is that the skills learnt on the HNC are also transferable to many modern businesses.

Course content

You will gain a wide range of esports knowledge linked to practical skills gained through research, independent study, directed study and workplace scenarios. You will be involved in vocationally relevant activities that help you develop the attitudes and approaches required for a successful career within the Esports industry, as well as a wide range of transferable skills valued for further study in higher education and the workplace.

By the end of the course, you will have sound knowledge of the basic concepts of esports. You will be competent in various skills and qualities relevant to the key areas of esports, including delivering events, coaching, marketing and tactical analysis.

Our staff brings a wealth of knowledge and skills from the Esports, sports, and business sectors, resulting in our teaching providing a 'real-world' curriculum. We emphasise key transferable skills that enhance your prospects for further study opportunities or future employment.

Entry requirements

48 UCAS points GCSEs or equivalent in English Language and Maths at grade 4/C or above.

After completing this course, students may wish to progress to level 5 HND Esports at Loughborough College to gain a greater understanding. Whether aspiring to become Esports managers, content creators, event organisers, or industry analysts, students are equipped with the basics to build upon to gain a career within the industry.

Fee information

You may have to pay additional costs during your studies. A summary of the costs that you may be expected to pay, and what is included, while studying a course within the sports department are listed below:

DBS checks, where required, are included in the fees.
The cost of all assessments at first attempt are included in your course fees, but if you do not pass at first attempt, you will be responsible for resit fees at a cost of £40 per module.
Field trips are available throughout your programme. Whilst these are not compulsory to complete the degree programme, where a field trip is present costs are normally covered but you are expected to make a contribution towards food, which varies depending on duration of the trip.
The department runs a number of additional visits/ workshops/ qualifications for which students are not usually asked for payment. A refundable deposit may be required which is normally around £20. The deposit is refunded upon attendance/ successful completion of the course. There may be some food and drink costs and you should budget for day trips, which will vary depending on duration and venue.
All work is electronically submitted, however you will need to provide a printed copy of your final dissertation and a poster. The estimated cost for this is around £20-£25 per student in the final year.
You are required to purchase departmental kit for practical activities associated with your course (e.g. coaching, lab sessions, fitness testing). The price will be around £30-£100 depending on items ordered.
