Role overview
Construction Support Technicians play a vital role in keeping building projects running smoothly, supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of construction work from design to completion.
Working in both office and site environments, apprentices gain the technical and digital skills to manage information, monitor progress, and ensure that projects meet safety, quality, and cost targets.
You’ll learn how to:
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and project data Use industry-standard digital systems to track and report project information
- Support estimating, planning, buying, and quantity surveying functions Prepare and manage key construction documents
- Communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and design teams Apply health, safety, and environmental legislation to real project situations
• Apprentices work within construction firms, contractors, and supply chain partners, supporting a variety of projects in sectors such as residential, commercial, industrial, and public infrastructure.
Typical roles include Planning Technician, Estimating Technician, Buying and Procurement Technician, or Quantity Surveying Technician.
