Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2) Property Maintenance Operative

Role overview
Property Maintenance Operatives keep buildings safe, efficient, and in good working order across housing, education, healthcare, hospitality, retail, and commercial settings.
Apprentices develop a broad range of practical trade skills to carry out day-to-day maintenance, repairs, and improvements to internal and external areas of properties.
You’ll learn how to:
- Carry out general repairs using carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, painting, and basic electrical skills
- Diagnose and fix minor faults safely and efficiently
- Maintain external areas such as drainage, brickwork, glazing, fencing, and pathways Use hand and power tools correctly and work to building regulations
• Record, report, and communicate maintenance information using digital tools
- Support sustainability by reducing waste and improving energy performance

Progression opportunities
After completing this Apprenticeship, learners can progress onto the Level 3 Building Services Engineering Maintenance or Team Leader/Supervisor Apprenticeship.
With experience, roles may include Facilities Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, or Estates Technician, supporting larger property portfolios or specialist areas such as compliance, energy management, or refurbishment.
