This qualification is designed to introduce learners to cyber security.

It will provide the learners with the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of the sector whilst acting as a steppingstone that will lead some learners into studying cyber security at a higher level.

It will do this by introducing the knowledge and understanding in roles and issues relating to Cyber Security.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry criteria, however it is advisable that learners already have a Level 2 or equivalent qualification (Five or more GCSE/O levels grade A*-C, one A level, two or three AS levels, NVQ Level 2).

Distance Learning programmes are Fully Funded for eligible adults via the Adult Education Budget. Please see criteria under Key Information.

Key Information

A short, accredited Distance Learning Qualification completed within 12- 16 weeks. Self-Study Knowledge Based Qualification with the support of a subject specialist trainer. Choice of Paper and Online Resources and Assessments Method subject to availability. The sooner you complete one course the sooner you can move onto another. Ideal for continued professional development in your area of expertise, to gain prior knowledge for future employment or for your own personal interest in the subject.

Experience in the workplace is not essential as this is a knowledge-only qualification.

Progression opportunities

Learners may wish to progress onto another distance learning course in another subject for example in Data Protection and Security, Team Leading or a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard in Information Communications Technician.
