Level 2 Certificate Technical Specialist Mental Health in the Early Years

Course Overview
The early years of childhood are critical for development. Learning the significance of attachment and adverse experiences during this time is important to understand children’s mental health. Children can be exposed to several traumatic experiences throughout their early years which can impact their mental health – and these experiences can contribute to mental health concerns in later life.
Entry requirements
You must be working in an appropriate setting as there are some practical skills assessments that need to be uploaded online.
It is advisable that learners already have a Level 2 or equivalent qualification (Five or more GCSE/O levels grade A*-C, one A level, two or three AS levels, NVQ Level 2).
Distance Learning programmes are Fully Funded for eligible adults via the Adult Education Budget.

A short, accredited Distance Learning Qualification completed within 12- 16 weeks. Self-Study Knowledge and Competency Based Qualification with the support of a subject specialist trainer. This programme is fully online. The sooner you complete one course the sooner you can move onto another. Ideal for continued professional development in your area of expertise.

Unit 3 - The role of the Early Years Practitioner supporting mental health and wellbeing for young children in the early years
Progression opportunities
Learners may wish to progress onto another distance learning course in another subject for example in Neuroscience in Early Years, Adverse Childhood Experiences, Behaviour that Challenges or Mental Health First Aid and Advocacy in the Workplace or Self-Harm and Suicide Prevention. You may wish to progress onto a Level 3, 4 or 5 Early Years or Teaching Assistant Qualification subject to previous qualifications held.
Where can you work?
You must be working with children in your current role to understake this qualification. If you do not work with children, you should consider completing the Children and Young People's Mental Health Qualification instead.
