International Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) Scheme

The UK’s ETA scheme is a digital travel permission required for visitors from certain countries who do not need a visa for short stays. International students coming for courses up to 6 months may need to apply for an ETA before travelling. It is not a visa, but a pre-screening measure linked to your passport.
The ETA costs £16, is valid for 2 years or until your passport expires, and allows multiple entries. Applications can be made online or via the UK ETA app, and most decisions are issued within three working days. Students coming for longer study periods must apply for a standard student visa.
