Not many colleges are offering the City and Guilds Barbering NVQ and the tutors are brilliant in the sector.
I chose Loughborough College because I had been to the college previously for their hairdressing course. I’d also trialled another local College which I didn’t enjoy and I knew Loughborough College could offer me the course I was looking for.
My course was very informative and very interesting. The tutors are fantastic, very knowledgeable and always there for help and guidance.
I got a lot of support from my tutor, whether I was having a bad time in my personal life or career, nothing was ever looked down on.
We worked with what we had but the barbering room was more for hairdressing. Starbucks coffee was a big bonus.

My future plans are to progress on to Level 4 at some point, and then on to my assessors’ course. I want to work in a barbershop, working my way up to reach my five-year goal of either running a shop or owning my own.
