This
qualification is designed to provide you with an excellent understanding of the
principles of working within the tourism and aviation sector and is a great
starting point if you want to pursue a career in the travel, tourism and
aviation industry. The course is ideal if you want to develop your knowledge of
the different components within the sectors of Travel and Tourism and undertake
employment as an Events Manager, Visitor Attraction Manager, Hotel Manager,
Travel Agent, Tour Operator or within an airport or airline.
Students can expect to gain industry
knowledge through visits to East Midlands Airport and hearing
from guest speakers. We will also help you to gain valuable experience on
work placements that give you a real insight into the
industry.
Core Modules:
- The UK Travel and Tourism Industry
- Preparation for a Career in the travel and Tourism Industry
- Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
Optional Units:
There will be six additional units selected by lecturers from an extensive
list of 27 optional units. Examples include:
- Aviation Communication
- Flight Operations
- UK Airports
- Airport Ground Operations
- Airline Health, Safety and Security
- Worldwide Passenger Airlines
- Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
- Investigating Airline Cabin Crew
Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language and
Maths or progression from the Level 3 NCFE Certificate in Travel and Tourism.
Students can choose to undertake
further study including Degree courses at Loughborough College Group. They
could also pursue a career as an event organiser, travel agent or travel the
world by gaining employment in the following career paths but not exclusive to;
Air Cabin Crew, Airport Ground Staff or Airport/Airline
Management.
